ECEN-5107 (3) Electric Power Grid

Examines the electrical grid, including conventional generation, transmission/ distribution, and new renewable generation technologies. Issues including grid stability, the increase in variable generation on the grid, and how the electrical grid will change in the future will be addressed. Intended for students with an engineering background from outside electrical engineering who desire an introduction to the power grid. Requisites: Excludes graduate students in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Concurrent degree plans.
