CHEM-5271 (3) Chemistry of Solar Energy
Chemical principles of conversion of solar energy into electricity and fuels in molecular and semiconductor-based systems. Overview of solid-state electronic structure of materials and interfaces, light-matter interactions, principles of harvesting photoexcited currents and useful chemical species. Description of processes utilized in established and emerging solar energy technologies. CHEM 4271 and 5271 are the same course. Requisites: Requires prerequisite courses of CHEM 3331 or 3371, and CHEM 4431, 4521, or 4531 (all minimum grade grade C-) or restricted to graduate students only.
