MCEN-4124 (3) Mechanical Behavior of Materials

Addresses the relationship between material structure and the fundamental processes of deformation, yield, and fracture. Examines elements of elasticity theory, introduction to plasticity, and formulation of failure criteria. Studies basic deformation processes in terms of dislocation mechanics and macroscopic mechanical behavior. Takes into consideration the influence of compositional and processing strengthening mechanisms on mechanical properties. Prerequisites: Requires prerequisite courses of MCEN 2024 and MCEN 2063 (all minimum grade C-). Restricted to students with 87-180 credits (Senior, Fifth Year Senior) Mechanical Engineering majors only.
