MCEN-2024 (3) Materials Science

Focuses on structure, properties, and processing of metallic, polymeric, ceramic, and composite materials. Specific topics covered include perfect and imperfect solids, phase equilibria, transformation kinetics, mechanical behavior and material degradation. Approach incorporates both materials science and materials engineering components. Prerequisites: Requires prereq course of MCEN 1024 or 1208 or CHEN 1211 and CHEM 1221 or CHEM 1113 and 1114 (min grade C-). Restricted to students with 27-180 credits (Soph/Jrs/Srs) MECH or EVEN or GEEN-BS students, with a sub-plan of MEC.
