Develops the necessary structural analysis skills for conducting conceptual and preliminary designs of large space structures with a practical emphasis on structures considered by NASA over the past 20 years. Applies analysis skills to a broad range of space missions requiring large space structures, emphasizing low cost and practical design. Same as ASEN 5218. Prerequisites: Restricted to students with 87-180 credits (Senior, Fifth Year Senior) Aerospace Engineering (ASEN) or Mechanical Engineering (MCEN) majors only.
