Investigates landscape architectural thought from antiquity to the present. Begins with a review of Greek ideals and proceeds - through an appreciation of landscape and nature as essential cultural constituents - with a survey of major themes such as Renaissance Humanism, the Picturesque, and the varieties of Modernism, Neo-Eclecticism and most recent directions in landscape and garden design. Prereqs., ENVD 2120, 3122, 3124. Coreqs., ENVD 2130, 3003. Restricted to College of Architecture and Planning undergrads.
