Reflects upon derivation of wave equations from the basic equations of dynamic elasticity. Topics include propagation of elastic waves in infinite and partially bounded media, Rayleigh waves and Love waves, Pochhammer solution for a rod, and waves in plates and in layered and anisotropic media. Prereq., MCEN 5020, 5040, and 5043, or equivalents. Same as PHYS 6680 and GEOL 6680. Restricted to College of Engineering and Applied Science Graduate Students or BS/MS Mechanical Engineering Concurrent Degree students.
