Exposes students to the history of Italian immigration to the United States. By studying how Italians and Americans negotiated different ideas concerning identity, traditions and community, it helps students understand how Italians transformed themselves from a despised and marginalized minority into active participants in the success of the United States in the 20th and 21st centuries.
