Introduces audio production techniques using digital technologies. Students learn to apply fundamental principles to create professional radio and online programs including podcasting. Prerequisites: Restricted to Program in Journalism and Mass Communication (JOUR) majors with a minimum of 45 hours taken.

Covers studio productions for "Newsteam Boulder." Students also do field projects to sharpen their writing, video production, and editing skills. Designed to give students the experience of researching, writing, shooting and editing their own documentaries. Same as JOUR 5344. Prerequisites: Requires a prerequisite course of JOUR 3644 (minimum grade D-).
Students learn basic broadcast reporting skills---where to find news and how to cover it, how to analyze and organize news stories. Skills are linked with advanced concepts of shooting and editing videotape in order to produce news stories on deadline. Prerequisites: Requires prerequisite courses of JOUR 3604 and 3644 (all minimum grade D-). Restricted to students with 57-180 credits (Junior or Senior) Broadcast News (BCNS-BSJR or JBCN-BSJR) majors only.
Applies advanced skills in producing in-depth audio programming for radio stations in Colorado and for weekly discussion-critique sessions. Prerequisites: Requires prerequisite course of JOUR 3614 (minimum grade D-).
Students participate in Newsteam Boulder a program broadcast live over the Boulder cable television system. Same as JOUR 5624. Prerequisites: Requires prerequisite course of JOUR 4354 (minimum grade D-). Restricted to students with 87-180 credits (Senior, Fifth Year Senior) Broadcast News (BCNS -BSJR or JBCN-BSJR) majors only.
Covers interpretation, preparation, and/or reporting in programs for broadcast media. Prepares radio or television documentaries and informational/entertainment programs. Prerequisites: Requires a prerequisite course of JOUR 3604 or 3644 (all minimum grade D-).
Provides in-depth experience in directing and producing television programs. Prerequisites: Requires a prerequisite course of JOUR 3674 (minimum grade D-). Restricted to Broadcast News (BCNS-BSJR or JBCN-BSJR) or Broadcast Production (BCPM-BSJR or JBCP-BSJR) majors with a minimum of 85 hours taken.
Emphasizes the advanced techniques in digital video camera usage and digital editing for professional broadcast video production. JOUR 4684 and 5684 are the same course. Prerequisites: Requires a prerequisite course of JOUR 3644 (minimum grade D-).
