WMST-3900 (3) Asian American Women: Historical and Contemporary Issues

Drawing from work produced by and about Asian American women, examines historical and contemporary issues including representation of Asian American women, identity politics, feminism, coalition building, and activism for social change. Prereq., WMST 2000 or 2600, or ETHN 1025, 2001, or 2004. Restricted to sophomores/juniors/seniors. Same as ETHN 3905. Approved for arts and sciences core curriculum: United States context.

DNCE-3901 (1-3) Technique Practicum

Offers special courses in the technique series. Topics or forms of dance will include world dance forms and/or social dance forms. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Instructor consent may be required.

WMST-3919 (1-3) Service Learning Practicum

Under faculty supervision, students participate in a service learning project correlated with the academic subject. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours.

FILM-3920 (3) Professional Seminar

Learning aspects of professional development in the field of cinema. Through workshops and assignments students will learn of the many opportunities found within all areas of production. Guests will help inform the students of professional options and expectations. Topics will include: crew work, fund raising, marketing festivals, low budget filmmaking, and alternative venues. Students may have an internship concurrently with this course. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Recommended restriction to Film (FILM or FMST) majors only. Prereq., FILM 2500.

ARTH-3929 (1-3) Special Topics in Art History

May be repeated up to 18 total credit hours when topic varies. Prereqs., ARTH 1300 and 1400.

EBIO-3930 (1-6) Internship

Provides an academically supervised opportunity for upper-division students to work in public or private organizations. Projects are usually related to students' career goals. Each project has both academic and work components. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Pass/fail only.

ENGL-3930 (1-6) Internship

Provides academically supervised opportunity for upper-division students to work in public or private organizations on projects related to students' career goals and to relate classroom theory to practice. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Restricted to students with 57-180 credits (Junior or Senior) and instructor consent required. Prerequisites: Restricted to students with 57-180 credits (Juniors or Seniors).

ENVS-3930 (1-3) Internship

Relates classroom theory to practice. Provides academically supervised opportunities for environmental studies majors to work in public and private organizations on projects related to students' career goals. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours.

GEOG-3930 (3) Internship

Provides an academically supervised opportunity for advanced geography or environmental conservation majors to work in public and private organizations on projects related to the student's career goals andto relate classroom theory to practice. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Restricted to geography and environmental studies majors. Prerequisites: Restricted to Geography or Environmental Studies majors only.

GEOL-3930 (1-6) Internship

Offers an academically supervised opportunity for geological sciences majors to work with public or private organizations. Projects are usually associated with students' career goals; each project has an academic emphasis. Prereq., junior standing and completion, with a B or better, of at least two courses for geology majors.

GRMN-3930 (1-6) Internship

Provides an academically supervised opportunity for upper-division students to earn credit while working for public or private organizations. Students apply skills and knowledge earned in the major, and supplement their work experience through directed readings and assignments. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Prerequisites: Restricted to students with 57-180 credits (Junior or Senior) German Studies (GRMN) majors only.

HUMN-3930 (1-6) Humanities Internship

Students gain academic credit and professional experience working in museums, galleries, arts administration, and publishing. They work 3-18 hours per week with their professional supervisor and meet regularly with a faculty advisor who determines the reading and writing requirements. Prereqs., junior standing and interview with faculty advisor.

JWST-3930 (3) Internship in Jewish Studies

Learn beyond the classroom by interning in a local non-profit organization that connects with the Program in Jewish Studies through its mission and/or program. Interns will be supervised by the faculty member of record as well as the employer housing the intern. Prereqs., HIST/JWST 1108 or HEBR/JWST 2350. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours.

LGBT-3930 (3) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies Internship

Matches selected students with supervised internships in university programs and advocacy groups, local businesses, human service or government agencies. Internships will focus on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer issues, such as anti-violence programs, educational outreach, and civil rights initiatives. Recommended prereq., LGBT 2000.

PHIL-3930 (1-3) Internship in Social Policy

Under the guidance of an official in a governmental or non-governmental organization, students are assigned to projects selected for their academic suitability as well as for value to the sponsoring organization. Prior approval of department required. Prereq., 9 hours in moral or political philosophy course work. Recommended prereqs., PHIL 1200, 2200, and 3200.
